ANARCHY!

A LAUGHING EPIDEMIC IS SWEEPING THE NATION!

Four months ago, terminally gloomy tech billionaire, Ozias Plume, caught a laughing virus that made him see the funny side of life. The virus made him so happy, he felt duty-bound to spread it around the world. He started with little ol’ England… And now the miserable Brits won’t stop laughing.

It’s a nightmare for the UK authorities.

Fines are imposed. A public inquiry is launched. A state of emergency is declared.

… and STILL the people laugh...

It’s revolting! The people are revolting!
CIVILISATION IS ON THE BRINK

This book is a work of genius. It made me cry with laughter- at the ridiculous authorities and at the madness of my own existence. This book may change your life. I'm giving it to all my friends and family forever !

Daisy Waugh is always brilliant and sharp as a tack - this is her best ever. It should be prescribed reading! Bravo!

Highly amusing, original read. Smart, witty, irreverent and consistently funny story on a bubbling bedrock of positivity. I smiled and chuckled the whole way through.

This book should be placed alongside Swift's Gulliver's Travels on every reader's shelf. It bubbles with imagination and invention which never flag, and its satire is as funny as it is furious. Full of wit and wisdom, this is a tour de force.

I very much enjoyed this extraordinary book. It's a powerful satire of the world today, and particularly how individuals and states behaved during the recent pandemic. Despite being published shortly before the phrase 'lanyard class' became widely publicised, Anarchy brilliantly skewers the state's stultifying bureaucratic obsessions with safety - which peaked during the Covid lockdowns - and deep suspicion of spontaneity - of anything being either/or mildly risky or amusing; the quangocracy and its hypocrisy; our celebrity culture; the global super rich who seem to live by completely different rules to anyone else. Very thought-provoking, asking what exactly it is that we need to make us happy? And might happiness itself be seen as a threat?. I still haven't worked out who Ferdinand is but may be that's the point.
