Eric was born in Leeds and now lives in a house full of pets, plants and occasionally daughters, in Mirfield.

He retired as manager of Oakwell Hall Country Park in 2021 and now divides his time between writing, running, cycling, hill walking and his allotment. He strums the guitar a bit and plays the flute, though not at the same time.

He also enjoys the occasional pint or two of real ale and is a long-suffering supporter of Leeds United Football Club.
