Craig Iley

Craig Iley was born on Good Friday 1964 in the North Yorkshire town of Middlesbrough.

Having spent almost four decades working for multiple banks including some of our biggest high street names, he understands more than most just how important banks are to society, but he is also increasing annoyed at the arrogance, ineptitude and especially the inequality of the relationship that banks have with society.

Having worked mainly with the business community right across the UK and also in Spain his exceptionally rare experience has given him a unique insight into the industry that he no longer believes is fit for the 21st Century, so he set about trying to change it.

In 2014 he became of one of the Founders of Atom Bank, and he is currently going through that process again as a Founder of a second new; SME focused bank B-North, which he hopes to bring to the market in 2020.

Through his writing, Craig wants to start a wider debate about bringing banks back into line with their original purpose and encourage others to join him on that quest because everyone, no matter who you are or where you come from, can make a difference.

It’s time for a radical rethink, for a new ‘Covenant’ with our banks, to repay society for the huge advantages they have enjoyed.
