A View To A Kill Or Two

“He who does not prevent a crime when he can, encourages it.” Seneca

Madeira is a lovely, out-of-the-way spot. But, as it turns out, not out-of-the-way enough when a vengeful criminal gang has discovered fugitive Prison Officer Greg McAuley’s whereabouts after he’d helped to smash their lucrative drugs smuggling racket.

‘…with the help of a Buddha statue, a set of ladders, a kettle of boiling water, (ably wielded by Molly, his ex), a baseball bat, his vibrant green Skoda Fabia, driven fast and in reverse by his landlady, Mrs. Singh, (possibly the first time she had been known to get out of second gear), and a large measure of divine intervention, had succeeded in fighting off Vrioni and his henchmen when they’d attacked Molly’s house.’

Kidnap, death and a bloody stand-off at an iconic Madeiran tourist attraction follow as McAuley fights for his life.

Another excellent read from Jack Parkes

Very entertaining, fast-moving and gritty. The characters are clearly defined and individual. Some laugh-out-loud moments as well.

Absolutely fantastic

I've been waiting for this to land since completing the first one (The Man With The Golden Tooth), and I couldn't put it down. Both books leave you with a thirst for more. What journey will this author take us on next? I can't wait to find out.
