Rachel Wade

Rachel Wade grew up in York surrounded by stories.

After a primary school teacher warned her parents that she was ‘too imaginative’, Rachel began writing in earnest with an interest in both fiction and journalism. She moved to London in her early twenties, graduating with a BA in English before returning to York for an MA.

With a lifelong love of local history, Rachel began working in the heritage sector. In 2017, she volunteered with refugees and developed a passion for education. A year later, she completed the CELTA course and began teaching English as a foreign language.

In March 2020, the pandemic caused another career shift, this time to copywriting and tutoring creative writing. It was during this time that Rachel completed ‘Crow’s Haunt’, a novel inspired by her great uncle’s stories of her home city, which was published in 2021.

Again influenced by North Yorkshire and her childhood memories, Rachel's second novel, 'All Weather is Passing', will be released in July 2023. She is now working on her third novel.
