Fisher King
Allison Lee’s writing career began in 2006, when she drew on her professional experience in childcare to write her first nonfiction books. She went on to publish fourteen titles with respected publishers, including Bloomsbury and Continuum International, establishing a successful career as an author.
In 2024, she turned her attention to fiction, bringing her experience of observing people, relationships and human behaviour to the psychological thriller genre. Her debut novel, My Husband’s Child, was published by Bad Press Ink in September 2025.
The following month, she returned to nonfiction with Free Range and Flourishing, a practical smallholder’s handbook published by Quiller Publishing. She is currently writing a follow-up for the same publisher, developing her next psychological thriller, and working on her memoir, which will cover the challenges, surprises and occasional chaos of establishing a life on a smallholding.
Moving comfortably between dark, compelling fiction and warm, entertaining nonfiction, she enjoys the freedom of writing in very different genres.
She lives with her husband, Mark, on their North Yorkshire smallholding, surrounded by donkeys, ponies, pigs, sheep, goats and chickens. They have two sons and two granddaughters.
