A proud Yorkshire man, Jack Tipping, took to writing in later life. With an interest in poetry from an early age it was not until retirement from the timber industry that he took up writing as a career.

His earlier interests were governed by sport. A regional diving champion, captain of a leading rugby club, successful stock car racer in his well-known car ‘Gravel Gertie,’ – generally living an adventurous life. Marriage to Joyce brought to an end his carefree existence and the responsibilities of a family man took precedence. Even so, he continued with his involvement with rugby and in 1970 was one of the first to introduce the junior game in the country. He served as chairman of his rugby club and is their senior Honorary Life member.

Struck down with a debilitating illness he began to write; taking historical events and introducing fictitious characters he created stories that have resulted in a trilogy of books the first of which is now published as ‘Faces of Duplicity’.
