A Game of Consequences is Gill’s debut novel of short stories. When she is not writing, Gill is a nurse with thirty years in that career so far. She lives in Yorkshire but her roots are in Lancashire. Apart from writing, Gill loves travelling, cycling and walking Winnie, the family’s cockapoo. She is married with children and grandchildren, and says, ‘I am very lucky to have the life I lead. Combining writing and nursing is the best of both worlds’.
Gill was a finalist in the Nursing Standard Nurse of the Year Competition in 1994 for setting up a Pre-assessment Service in Orthopaedic Nursing at Leeds General Infirmary.
She did a BA in English at Leeds University as a mature student and also did an MA in Writing for Performance and Publication.
Gill’s father, who was a wonderful man, died in 2014. He suffered with dementia, which is why the proceeds that Gill makes from the sale of A Game of Consequences are being donated to charities leading the fight against dementia.
Gill is a volunteer at a local food bank. She is a member of the Yorkshire Lasses Cycling Club. In 2014 Gill cycled the Way of the Roses, a challenging route from Morecambe to Bridlington. In 2015 Gill cycled through beautiful Tuscany. Who knows where next!
